Tristaina solar viewpoint

Ordino Arcalís offers you the chance to enjoy one of the most spectacular panoramic views of Andorra and the Pyrenees by climbing to the solar viewpoint of Tristaina. The viewpoint is located at the summit of Peyreguils (2701 m) near the border with France, surrounded by the rest of the peaks that make up the Tristaina cirque: Costa Rodona, Tristaina itself, Creussans and Cabanyó. The Tristaina viewpoint, a spherical platform suspended 25 meters in diameter over the Peyreguils peak, is a privileged observation point. The lookout is a sundial, since the 27-meter central pole that supports the sphere is inclined at 42.55°, which makes it mark the time on the same circumference. The name "solar viewpoint" also refers to the natural phenomenon that can only be seen once a year at the Arcalís peak. On August 7, at 7:37 a.m., the sun is visible for 3 minutes through a large hole between its stones. This extraordinary fact makes the peak also known as the Solar Mountain.
